And I'm Back...

After a short hiatus from blogging - right after my last post I found out I was pregnant and from then on my life was baby, baby, baby! Now that my DS is 15 months old I am finally feeling like I have the time to do more scrapping and blogging. A few weeks ago I spent the whole weekend at a Close to My Heart scrap retreat and got 7 layouts done! I will post pictures soon. Keep checking back for updates!

Here is my darling son in his 1 year old picture a few months ago. Isn't he a cutie?

Altered Picture Frame

My friend Bridgette is pregnant and I made this frame for her baby Millie who will be here in April. Bridgette has Nolan who is 4, but she is super excited to have a little girl! She is going a bit crazy over pink, so I thought she would like all the pink and the hearts! I can't wait to give this to her at her shower this month!

First I painted the frame white - this frame took 3 coats!!! Next, I used the Cricut to cut out hearts of different shapes and sizes out of pink scraps I had lying around. I then used Modge Podge to adhere the hearts and buttons. I used the Cricut again to cut a stencil for the name. After painting the name, I tied three different ribbons around the side of the picture opening.

I really enjoy making gifts for people I care about! What about you? What altered art projects ahev you made as gifts?

Scraps???????

Ok, so I need to organize my scraps! Right now they are all smushed together in a plastic drawer organizer. They are not uniform size or shape, just a giant mess. Now, because of the mess I very rarely use any of my scraps. Any suggestions? How do you organize your scraps? Do you have the same issues I have? I need your ideas!

More rut busting!

Rut busting, once I found this sheet music paper I knew I had to use it! I love how the words that are peaking out goes with the layout. This is my beautiful niece at Christmas, looking as adorable as ever. I used Picasa to edit the picture.

This is a card I made with left overs from yesterday's layout. I am also working on a picture frame for a friend of mine who is preggers. I will post it when I am done.

What scrapbooking rut are you stuck in? I challenge you to bust your rut! Tell me what your rut was and how you busted it!

Get out of that rut!

Do you ever get stuck in a scrapping rut? I know I do. For the past few months I had been stuck in a paper rut, the kind where I only used papers that came from the same line (and it seemed all Basic Grey, lol!). While there is NOTHING wrong with this I knew I was not challenging myself and I was starting to get bored. So I challenged my self to create a LO with papers that didn't even come from the same manufacturer, and I did it! Check it out:

Patterned paper: American Crafts & Hambly Screenprints, alphabet letters: American Crafts, chipboard and plastic embellies: American Crafts, other embellies and cardstock came from my stash.

I am off to challenge myself some more! Have you ever gotten stuck in a scrapbooking rut? What was your rut and how did you get out?

Taxes, Bathroom Painting and Life

If you live in south east Michigan you know that today was the PERFECT day to spend in my scrap room! It was snowing all day and pretty much miserable outside. I thought Pat (darling husband) would be content to play his video games for the afternoon and I could scrap my little heart out... Life had other ideas, instead we painted the guest bathroom, filed the taxes and paid bills. Some days I hate when life gets in the way of scrapping. What kinds of things get in the way of your scrapping time? How do you make time for scrapping?
